Patna,(BiharTimes): Seeking its response on the plea for a CBI probe into the Forbesganj police firing a Supreme Court bench comprising Justice R M Lodha and Justice J S Khehar on Monday issued notice to the Bihar government.

Four people, including an infant and a woman in family way, were killed in Bhajanpura village under Forbesganj police station of Araria district on June 3 while they were protesting against blockade of their road by a starch factory.
The Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), a Delhi-based NGO, had filed the writ petition in the Supreme Court alleging that the state government was protecting the police officials who had resorted to the firing at unarmed villagers.
The apex court issued the notice on the first hearing of the case No. 195/2011 on Monday.
APCR has also sought direction to the state government to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family members of each of the deceased and Rs 5 lakh each to those injured in the police firing.
As repeatedly reported the state government has not announced any compensation to the victims except for the family of six-month old infant Sahil Ansari whose family has been given Rs three lakh.
Incidentally, not a single police official has been transferred or suspended yet. Only a homeguard jawan, who was caught in camera stomping over a seriously injured person, was arrested after the national outcry.
Two months back the Nitish government set up a judicial commission to probe the incident. The opposition has been demanding a CBI probe in the case.
