College girl molested in heart of Patna, father slapped

Patna,(BiharTimes): Not only was she abused and publicly molested in Patna’s busiest thoroughfare her father was given a brutal slap in the face when he objected to this outrageous behaviour.

This is Patna of Susashan––perhaps nothing like this happened during the Jungle Raj near Income Tax Roundabout in the broadday light with the police around. Incidentally the perpetrators fled from the scene when Kotwali police station is just a furlong away. That is not enough, one of those who indulged in this criminal act is related to police.

Four inebriated youths abused and molested a student of Magadh Mahila College at about 4:30 PM on Thursday.

The student, who got off an auto, was waiting for her father at a little distance from a liquor shop at the Income Tax roundabout where four youths were drinking. Police said that as usual the girl had called her father before leaving the college. The father, Pramod Kumar Sinha, had asked her to wait for him.
According to police sources she had waited for quite sometime. Then the two of the four youths, drinking on motorbikes, came up to her and asked her to accompany them and also offered to drop her at her destination. She declined their offer and tried to ignore them but the youths continued to harass and molest her. Upon this the girl’s father reached the spot and tried to intervene. Upon this they assaulted both father and daughter.

However, this caused commotion. Sensing the gravity of the situation the youths fled. They, however, left behind their motorbikes, which they had parked in front of the liquor shop. What is strange is that the registration number of one of the bikes, painted in red and blue, indicates that it belonged to a policeman.

Patna SP (Central) Shivdeep Lande said that the bikes have been recovered. Their numbers are BR21(C) 0641 and BR01(AY) 4182. The first registration number is painted in the police identity colours of red and blue.

It is not too difficult to find out in which aspect Bihar has made advances i.e. jump in the statistics like GDP, food production, crime ,exodus amongst its population ( like mass migration from Bihar as it happened in the Mauryan Era - Jains migrated to Karnataka due to famine in Bihar ).

However, a decisive jump that has been made is in snatching of ornaments of women and molestation of women (Rupam Pathak's case is another example) plus sale of liquor (Daru) in every street corner that one can think of.

To me, the government has lost its mind in making progress in this direction.

This is the case of intoxication. It is strange that cigarette smoking has been banned in many places and countries but intoxicating drink are sold publically, knowing that the ill-effects of intoxicant are worse than tobacco chewing or smoking. Study confirms that alcohol is the fifth-most harmful drug while tobacco is the ninth most harmful.

In India itself hundreds of cases are reported due to taking intoxicating drinks including loca-made but its use are neither minimized or stopped. Is it not foolishness if we beat our children on their failure in exam and we don’t take any action to stop things that kept them away from study. May God help our literate use mind to well-understand things. If literacy does not produce good result in the society what is the use of such literacy. Today the most literate are most corrupt. The difference is that corruption at the hand of literate is sophisticated and professional and at the hand of illiterate it is coarse and unprofessional. The former is more dangerous than the later.
