Accoding to reports Shibu Manjhi of Mandayidih village under Tisiauta police station, was tied to a pole and thrashed till death by Bhuwaneshwar Singh and his men. Shibu used to work in the farm of Bhuwaneshwar.
The latter became furious as Shibu refused to go to Tripura, as asked by him, to work as a daily wage earner. Bhuwaneshwar, it is said, is in the business of supplying labours to other states.
According to the family members of Shibu he was abducted from a shop late on Tuesday evening and taken to the out-house of Bhuwaneshwar where he was beaten to death.
As if that was not Bhuwaneshwar’s son, Ranjit, and one of his friends carried Shibu’s body and dumped it near the accused’s house.
Shibu’s widow, Phul Devi (50) told police that Bhuwaneshwar had earlier asked her husband to go to Tripura along with some other workers from the village and work there. But when he refused to oblige, Bhuwaneshwar became furious.
The station house officer (SHO) of Tisiauta police station, Krishna Murari, said the statement of Shibu’s widow has been recorded and his body has been sent to the sadar hospital at Hajipur for autopsy.
Bhuwaneshwar and his son are absconding and are yet to be arrested. A police raid is on to catch them.
It needs to be recalled that on October 9, an 18-year-old girl, Gunja Kumari, was burnt to death by a mob at Bijraulia village under Tisiauta police station in the same district following a dispute over land.
The mob had first set ablaze the houses of the victim’s father and uncle. Then Gunjan was pushed into the fire. Her mother and younger sister tried to rescue her, but in vain. Over a week has passed since then, but the police are yet to make any breakthrough in the case.
