Patna,(BiharTimes): After a gap of about a year former Bihar Janata Dal (United) chief Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh has once again trained his guns on chief minister Nitish Kumar.
|
The occasion was the birth anniversary of the first chief minister of Bihar, Shri Krishna Sinha, on October 20. The show was organized by former RJD leader and ex-Union minister, who joined Congress on the eve of last Assembly election, Akhilesh Prasad Singh. Lallan shared dais with Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid, who too took the opportunity to flay the state government.
Others, who were invited to attend the function included Union Agriculture Minister, Sharad Pawar. But the latter could not make it because of some official reason. However, his written speech was read in the function.
Nagaland governor Nikhil Kumar and West Delhi MP Mahabal Mishra also attended the function but they confined their speeches to Sri Babu’s achievement and refrained from any politics.
Lallan, on the other hand, rubbished any comparison between Shri Babu and Nitish Kumar by stating that while the first Bihar chief minister opened schools, set up power plants and did a lot of welfare works the present incumbent is interested only in setting up billboards showing his big photos.
It is first time after the Assembly election––which Nitish won with thumping majority despite so much opposition by Lallan and other rebels––that former state Janata Dal (United) president hit out at the Bihar chief minister so strongly.
Political observers are of the view that Lallan had softened his stand after the defeat and he even paid a visit to Nitish’s place after the death of his mother on the first day of this year. The Munger MP even tried for reconciliation and took help of some common friends within the party, but Nitish was not impressed. All this forced Lallan to go back to his position once again.
The Janata Dal (United), in the meantime, suspended him along with, Mangani Lal Mandal and Sushil Singh (Lok Sabha MPs) and Upendra Prasad Kushwaha (Rajya Sabha MP) for their anti-party activities during the 2010 Assembly elections. The party has also sought the end of their membership from their respective Houses.
Lallan is now knocking at the door of Congress for entry into the party but the Grand Old Party is in no hurry to induct him and others. It is more pre-occupied with UP and other states where Assembly elections are due in 2012.
