Bihar government invites tenders for nine closed sugar mills

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government has made another bid to revive the sugar mill. It has invited bids to revive nine closed sugar units and one distillery of Bihar State Sugar Corporation Limited.
Talking to reporters on Tuesday Sugar Industry Minister Adwadhesh Prasad Kushwaha said tenders have been invited for Hathua (with distillery), Siwan, New Siwan, Samastipur, Bamankhi, Warsaliganj, Goraul,Guraru and Lohar for long term lease.



The excess land available with Motipur, Siwan, Sakari and Bihta unit was also opened for bidding for other industrial purposes. Bids are offered for for long term lease of 60 years renewable for another 30 years, he added.
He said that the state government had decided to give a further boost to production of sugarcane in Bihar to bring it to the level of Maharashtra and Karnataka in per hectare productivity in coming years.
Efforts are on to increase the production from 57 tonne per hectare to 100 tonne per hectare like in those two states. New lease of life was being given to Sugar Cane Labouratories. The state has 12 sugar mills in operation producing six lakh quintals of sugar, the minister added.
