Patna,(BiharTimes): Several social and women rights activists have sent petitions to the chairpersons of the National Human Rights Commission and National Commission for Women drawing their attention to the atrocities committed by the Patna police on the peaceful demonstration by citizens demanding regular supply of power and water.

They sought the attention towards the fact that a police force led by DSP, Ramakant Prasad, last month brutally assaulted unarmed men, women and children of Nala Road last week when they peacefully demonstrated to press the government to ensure supply of water and power.
Not only that 14 people, including nine women, were illegally detained by the police. The atrocities did not stop there. Those detained were severely beaten in the police custody and five of them were later sent to jail.
The letter said how In course of beating in police custody the booted Town DSP, Ramakant Prasad trampled on the chests of the detained youths and manhandled women.
The signatories included Pushpraj, freelance journalist and author of Nandigram Diary, Ashish Ranjan of National Alliance of Peoples Movement (NAPM) Bihar and Pummy Kumari alais Sadhana Singh Anamika.
