Patna,(BiharTimes): Three central agencies have withdrawn from the rural road construction works going on in Bihar under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana. The NBCC, NHPC and NPCC have withdrawn from 19 districts of the state.
These agencies were entrusted with the work by the then Rabri Devi government when the scheme was launched by the then Union rural development minister, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, about seven years back.

In the meantime Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and Indian Railways Construction Company (IRCON) also took up works at several places in the state. Now after the withdrawal of the above three agencies the work for the construction of 1826 km of roads would also be entrusted to CPWD and IRCON.
Out of 1826 km of incomplete roads the NBCC has left behind 1606 km in 14 districts, while the NPCC and NHPC 194 and 26 km in three and two districts respectively.
An agreement has been signed between the Union rural development ministry and rural works department of Bihar.
