Patna,(BiharTimes): A day after the ceiling fan of the Staff Club of Patna College came down a big chunk of plaster of the ceiling of English department of the College collapsed on Wednesday causing panic among faculty members and students.
A Sanskrit teacher of the College had a narrow escape as he had just left the place when the plaster fell down.

Incidentally, the ceiling collapsed just before Patna University Vice Chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh and college principal L K P Singh arrived there for attending a debate competition organized at the BA Lecture Theatre in its vicinity.
The incident could have caused injuries to several teachers had they been there on time.
On Tuesday afternoon half a dozen teachers were sitting in the Staff Club when the ceiling fan came down. A student had a narrow escape then.
A sizeable part of Patna College, Science College and B N College are in a dilapidated state. At several places the ceiling leaks and water seeps at the time of rain.
When a former student of Geology department, now settled in the United States, visited the Patna University last fortnight he was horrified to find the condition of the buildings. Talking to BiharTimes he then said that he fears that the buildings may collapse any moment. “This was not the condition when I was the student 25 years back,” he added.
The repeated incident of ceiling collapse only vindicated his apprehension.
The university authority alleged that the state government has made no sincere effort to renovate the buildings. Sources said that a couple of months back the Patna University had urged the state government to convene a joint meeting of the secretaries of the HRD, art and culture and other departments concerned and the university officials to discuss ways for protecting the buildings, but no initiative has so far been taken.
