Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Nitish Kumar said on Tuesday that his government had invited Sam Pitroda, advisor to the Prime Minister for public information, infrastructure and innovation, to suggest ways to boost the Information Technology sector in the state. |
Talking to mediapersons he said Pitroda would come to Bihar and meet officials to discuss the issue. Pitroda, who was recently in Patna to attend the convocation of Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna, had called on Nitish. Official then dubbed it as a courtesy call.
On Pitroda’s view on Bihar’s demand for being accorded special status the chief minister said that the question was asked to the wrong person as he is the Prime Minister’s adviser over issues related to general information, basic infrastructure and innovation and also the chairman of National Knowledge Council. He is neither related to the Planning Commission nor with the Union finance ministry.
Nitish said according special status to the state is an issue related to the Planning Commission.
The chief minister said that the Planning Commission has constituted a two-member committee headed by its secretary and having secretary, expenditure, Union finance ministry, as a member. The committee has been given the responsibility to look into the issue. State's officials have met the committee members and placed their views before them in detail over the issue, he said.
Nitish said corruption in highway projects, as highlighted in a World Bank report, was a serious issue and a thorough inquiry should be conducted.
He said that the Centre is not handling controversies related to Gen V K Singh properly.
