Patna,(BiharTimes): The Nitish cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to 20% extra seats in engineering and polytechnic colleges for admissions in second year of engineering degree and diploma courses through lateral entry in the state. |
According to Principal Secretary, Cabinet Coordination, Ravikant, with this decision, 1125 more engineering diploma holders would be admitted to engineering colleges of the state.
Apart from that it would lead to 1,250 additional seats for admission in second year in polytechnics for the students completing the ITI vocational courses.
The cabinet also took a decision to create five percent additional seats for admission to first year engineering degree courses and in polytechnics for students whose parents’ annual income is less than Rs 4.50 lakh.
The cabinet approved appointment of candidates holding diploma (three-year course) in computer science and engineering/computer application/information technology to the posts of assistant programmer, programming assistant, technical assistant, IT assistant, junior network/system engineer and data entry operator in various government departments.
Only on Monday last a large number of polytechnic students and pass-outs demonstrated outside Janata Darbar of the chief minister demand jobs for them.
