The 100th Bihar Diwas ‘2012 along with Holi was celebrated at
Marlboro Community Hall on 7th APRIL in New Jersy(USA) with éclat
and team spirit. The occasion provided an opportunity for the NRBs
to mix together and identify their roots in an atmosphere of gaiety
marked by cultural shows, mutual communicative exchanges and joy of
meeting forgotten friends.
The rejuvenated Asssociation of old Biharis and new Jharkhandies
under the Presidentship of an old college time sportsman and an
enthusiastic Bihari, Shashi Sinha presented the report on the activities
and achievements of BJANA and his future plan to make it more
cohesive, active and meaningful. Mr. Sinha also recognized the efforts
made by some of the prominent BJANA members towards philanthropy
and social work in Bihar & Jharkhand. He lauded the efforts
of Dr. Ravindra Sinha for establishing ‘Ritu Sinha Knowledge Center
for Creative Learning’ at Patna, and Dr Prabhat and Shomya Das for establishing a net work of libraries in Bihar.
The function concluded with valedictory address of New Jersey Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula. He wished Happy Holi to all the assembled guests breaking his plan to run for US Congressman as a
democratic candidate along Mr Brajesh Singh who is a candidate for upcoming polls in comimg November. Dr Sudhanshu Prasad-a council member of Edison Township was presented a plaq in recognition of his services to BJANA. Mr. Sam Khan, a Republican Party candidate for
Freeholder for Middlesex county, wished everyone happy Holi.
The Chief Ministers of Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand, had earlier
sent their best wishes to BJANA and congratulated the community for
keeping the tradition of the ‘Holi festival’ alive in the USA. A half yearly souvenir “ Vaishali” was distributed among all BJANA members on this occasion.
