Patna,(BiharTimes): Stating that the crime against Dalits, women, backward castes and minorities have increased in the last six and a half years of the Nitish Kumar regime the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui on Thursday once again raised the killing of an Extremely Backward Caste labourer in Gaya district last month.

Talking to newsmen in Patna he said there has been a phenomenal increase in the atrocities on the poor, weaker and under privileged sections of society and Dalits ever since the NDA led by Nitish Kumar came to power in Bihar.
Referring to the killing of Sita Ram Prasad, an extremely backward class man at a village in Gaya district on March 17, he alleged that the state government had failed to ensure an independent and proper inquiry into his death. Siddiqui said the deceased’s wife had complained that instead of fair investigation, police had tried to hush up the case in connivance with the owner of the brick kiln.
The RJD leader and former minister said that he had requested Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to ensure an independent inquiry into Sita Ram’s death and also take punitive action against the police men who had allegedly tried to cover up the case. He said the Bihar government must ensure that the crime against the women, weaker and under privileged sections of the society and Dalits are checked. Siddiqui also took a dig at Kumar's oft-repeated claim of ensuring development with justice in Bihar.
