Nitish-Lallan meet raises speculations

Patna,(BiharTimes): The recent one-hour long meeting between Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and former state Janata Dal (United) president and now a bitter political rival, Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh, at the inauguration of a Chinese restaurant in the state capital has raised speculations of the comeback of the latter.

Lallan Singh, along with three other party MPs, were suspended for their “anti-party” activities during the last Assembly poll. Following which the JD(U) leadership had also sought their expulsions from their respective Houses.

Ever since 2010 Lallan was seen more close to Congress and even worked for its candidate for the Assembly election.

But both the leaders preferred not to make any personal comment against each other.

The owner of the restaurant, a Janata Dal (United) man, is closely associated with both Nitish and Lallan. That is why both the leaders were present on the occasion and were provided room for talks.

Though, what transpired between the two could not be known they both praised the Chinese food quality. But the BJP leaders said that it was a chance encounter between the two leaders who earlier were a long time friend. Some of them conceded that something is cooking up and the BJP should not take it lightly.

Political observers are of the view that both Lallan and Nitish need each other. While the problem with Lallan is that the Congress has itself softened its stand towards Nitish, the latter on his part need the support of Bhumihars, who appeared somewhat upset after the killing of Ranvir Sena chief, Brahmeshwar Singh.
