Patna,(BiharTimes): Stating that there seems to be a sheer jungle raj in Bihar the member of the National Commission of Women (NCW), Charu Bali Khanna, expressed doubts about impartiality been maintained in the on going investigation in the teenaged gangrape case that took place on June 14 last.
Khanna, who is the state in-charge of the NCW, met the victim girl, the police and administration on Friday said there were a lot of ifs and buts in the case. |
She said the case file mentions many names, but the number of arrest is very few. Compared to the number of accused the evidence are too few. “I was told that a single individual had three names. This creates doubts about the investigations,” she said.
Regarding the case of Saurabh and Rishabh, the two main accused who are still at large, she said that the DGP had assured her that all the culprits would be arrested. “But these were the names of the same persons, who have been arrested. He said Rahul Lamba was also known as Rishabh. The names are confusing and need to be carefully examined,” she said.
Khanna said that she had come here to look into three cases: the infamous Patna gangrape case, the molestation cases of nine girls in Rohtas and Samastipur case. The gangrape case is very shocking and it seems that Patna is not safe for girls. This is a new trend, she added.
She said while on the one hand the government claims to be working for the empowerment of women on the other hand girls are being trapped into hi-tech crimes.
Khanna was upset at the poor infrastructure facilities at the Women Police Station at Sultanganj. She also met the members of the Bihar State Women’s Commission. Incidentally, its chairperson, Kahkashan Parween, was not present on the occasion.
According to Khanna, the victim seems to be extremely traumatized. Imagine the mental state of the girl, who wanted to become IPS officer but have become victim of gang rape, she regretted.
