Patna,(BiharTimes): Following repeated demands and uproarious scene in the Bihar Assembly the Speaker, Uday Narayan Choudhary, on Friday gave the ruling that the House would have a special debate on the alleged irregularities in the execution of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) on Monday.

Earlier in the morning, the Opposition RJD MLAs raised slogans in the portico of the Assembly building against what they alleged a mega-scam. In the Assembly the opposition MLAs were heard demanding a CBI probe into the scam. Later, four MLAs of the party, including Leader of Opposition Abdul Bari Siddiqi, Samrat Choudhary, Akhtarul Imam amd Durga Prasad Singh served an Adjournment Notice, but the Speaker rejected it for technical reasons. But he converted the text of the Adjournment Notice into a demand for special debate on the matter and slotted it for Monday.
Leader of Congress Legislature party Sadanand Singh also sought a high level inquiry into the issue.
It needs to be recalled that a Delhi-based NGO, Centre for Environment and Food Security, on Nov 24 came out with a report, which found widespread irregularities worth Rs 6,000 crore in the implementation of MNREGA schemes in Bihar. Reacting to this the state rural development minister Nitish Mishra ordered a probe into the matter and also sought reports from various districts.
