Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has been assured by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that the Centre would remove hindrances in the allotment of coal linkage from Urma Pahari coal block in Jharkhand for the expansion project of the Barauni Thermal Power Station.
|
The coal ministry had in July allocated 23 lakh tonnes coal annually from the Urma Pahari mines for meeting the requirement for the extension units of the Barauni power plant.
But as per Centre’s new coal block policy the coal linkage from Urma Pahari is under threat of cancellation.
As reported Nitish met the Prime Minister in New Delhi on Thursday and urged him to ensure that the coal linkage provided to the Barauni power expansion project was not adversely affected.
Nitish said after his return to Patna on Friday that the Barauni extension project is expected to add 500 MW to state’s generation capacity.
