New Plus-II Bihar Board exam date clashes with CBSE’s Pre-Medical Test

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar School Examination Board’s decision to change the date of Plus-II examination keeping in mind the Bihar Diwas on March 22 is causing a lot of resentment among the students as the new schedule clashes with All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Preliminary Entrance Examination of CBSE which is to be held on April 1.

Not only that the examination of students with Physics, Chemistry and Math as combination now ends on April 5 and the IIT-JEE test is schedule on April 8. Since a large number of students get their centres outside the hometown, even outside the state (for example Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore), it would be difficult for them to appear. There is likelihood of students not getting space in train as the number of aspirants for this prestigious exam is quite high.

The new exam schedule was advertised in some newspapers on Friday (Feb 3). The secretary of the Board, Lallan Jha, said that the schedule has been changed keeping in mind the participation of students in the Centenary Celebration of Bihar on March 22.

As per the earlier schedule the exam of Science, Arts and Commerce was to start from March 15 and end on March 28. The exam of Physics, Chemistry and Math students was to take place between March 17 and 26.

Now, according to the new schedule, the Plus-II Board exam would start on March 26. The exam of students with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects would end on April 3. The exam of second last paper, that is, Chemistry, is on March 30. In between they will have to appear in April 1 pre-medical test. Once again if the centre is somewhere away from home how would the students appear in the competition and then return on April 3 to give Plus-II examination.

Students are questioning the wisdom of the Bihar Board in changing the date of exams for Bihar Diwas. After all the authorities were aware of March 22 since the beginning, therefore, as per the earlier schedule too, there was no exam on that date. But then why change the entire schedule? In fact never in the history exam schedule had been changed on the plea that the students are supposed to participate in Indepeendence Day and Republic Day, which are days of much more importance. After all those who are appearing in Plus-II as well medical and IIT test are not supposed to take part in Centenary Celebration of Bihar.

“How can the state government be so insensitive towards the career of the students and that too when the chief minister of the state is himself an engineer,”
one of the appearing students asked.
