Patna,(BiharTimes): Former governor of Chhattisgarh and Tripura D N Sahaya is the new chairman of the Board of Control of the A N Sinha Institute of Social Studies (ANSISS), Patna. It is governed by this Board represented by the government of Bihar through its 12 nominated members, departments of education and finance, besides nominees of the ICSSR and the UGC.The tenure of the chairman is two years, from the date of notification.
The outgoing chairman, Prashant Kumar Shahi, who is also the HRD minister, had joined last year in July. The government has issued notification to this effect on Thursday. |
Seventy-seven year old Sahaya had also served as the DGP of Bihar in 1990s.He was the governor of Chhattisgarh from November 2000 to June 2003 and again became governor of Tripura from June 2003 to October 2009. During his tenure as governor, he was also the Chancellor of state universities and Rector of Tripura Central University.
It needs to be recalled that the ANSISS was inaugurated in 1958 by the then president of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad. It was, however, made a statutory autonomous body on October 8, 1964, under the ANSISS Act, 1964.
