Lalu’s ex-personal secretary ‘surfaces’, buys two flats in Patna

Patna,(BiharTimes): The personal secretary of the then chief minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav, who disappeared mysteriously 16 years back, reportedly ‘surfaced’ in Patna recently to buy two flats.

According to an exclusive story of ETV Bihar Mukul Kishore Kapoor, who disappeared after the fodder scam was unearthed in 1996 had on February 7, 2012 bought two flats in an apartment in Patna.

Incidentally, the president of the apartments in which he bought two flats are none else but the Union minister in the Vajpayee cabinet, Nagmani. The latter was till a couple of years back in Janata Dal (United) and his wife was even a minister in the Nitish cabinet.

Mukul was the personal secretary of Lalu between 1990 and 1996 and disappeared after the fodder scam was unearthed. The Central Bureau of Investigation, which managed to arrest the former chief minister, Lalu Yadav, several of his colleagues and senior IAS and animal husbandry department officers, could not trace him out for 16 long years. The CBI had then carried several raids too yet it failed to nab him.

If Mukul has really purchased flats as the documents in registry office suggest it raises several serious questions. After all why did he disappear and who had been sheltering or protecting him. If he is in Patna and so close to the political bigwigs why nobody succeeded in getting him arrested as he is still wanted.

Reports said that he had purchased two flats in the same apartments and the total cost is Rs 54 lakhs.

Nagmani was quoted in the channel as saying that it is up to Mukul to state from where he had got the money to purchase the flats.

It needs to be recalled that Mukul had even accompanied Lalu to a couple of foreign countries. For this he even borrowed money, which he had not yet returned. The state government last August published a newspaper advertisement asking Mukul to return the amount, yet he was not traced. Now by purchasing two flats in Patna he cocked a snook at powers that be in the state.
