Patna,(BiharTimes): Though Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia had, on the opening day of the Global Summit on Friday, a word of praise for the Nitish Kumar government for spending central fund on building of roads in Bihar its member Abhijit Sen on second day raised several serious questions. |
Delivering his speech on Saturday he asked as to why poverty is not declining in Bihar even though it continues to have such a good growth rate.
He said the state had to cover a long distance to achieve the objective of development with justice.
Sen said it is just a catch up growth rate in Bihar which is still very low. Citing the National Sample Survey Organisation he said that though the state’s growth is on a higher scale between 2004 and 2009 yet there is no improvement in the poverty situation.
He said if every body starts feeling better it is the real meaning of development. However, he said several good works had been done by the state government during the past five years.
The Planning Commission member said Bihar had a lot more do to end corruption and maintain law and order.
Besides, the state had to lay more thrust on health and education for reaping rich harvests of the financial help reaching it from the Centre.

Whose poverty not declining ?
Lalu's son drives a Hayabusa , Ramvilas' son got a Bollywood debut.Nitish Kumar and his ministers have incalculable wealth freely invested in B-grade bhojpuri films.Whose poverty are you talking about,Mr.Abhijit ?
Cattle herders are flying in choppers, illiterates are law makers, corrupts govern and poor man's voice is silenced by the media. Thanks to the British born corporate democracy where shamelessness reigns supreme and people like you bunch together in 5 star hotels to make fools out of the innocent poor of Bihar. You and everyone on this stage knows very well that your plan to rob the state exchequer through tactical democracy is working fine. You enjoy your luxurious dinners and keep making fun of Bihar and its people.Exploiters will repent the day they were born once the aam admi turns into armed admi crossing their limit of patience over the perennial deception at your hands. The undercurrent is really scary.I am sure your Z securities will be able not save you from the explosion of common man's rage.No one trusts you.Don't be deceived by the calm on the surface. The anti-exploiter tsunami is building up in the hearts and minds of the besieged Biharis.
The inevitable revolution will not only alleviate poverty from the state but will see these exploiters hanging from trees all over Bihar.
