Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government was completely taken aback by the attack from an unexpected quarters on the second day of the Global Summit.
When the top shots like Kumarmanglam Birla, Lord Meghnad Desai, Abhijit Sen etc were on the dais a couple of academics and academics of Patna dared to expose the Nitish government’s utter failure on all fronts. |
When Prof Nawal Kishore Chaudhary of Patna University’s Economics Department and activist Arvind Sinha tried to intervene attempts were made to silence them. But they somewhat managed to prevail.
Among other things Arvind Sinha asked as to what the Nitish government had been doing to revive the two important power plants at Kanti and Barauni. They both are hardly producing any electricity yet the state government is making such tall claims.
Prof Nawal Kishore Chaudhary, on his part, said that more than 50 per cent of state government posts are lying vacant and there is anarchy in administration, yet the state government is busy holding such shows.
Later Chaudhary, said that the FICCI report had said that Bihar had zero investment in the last three years.
.
What is more there speeches were greeted with applaud and clapping by the delegates.
All this happened when Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and several ministers were present there.

Have these intellectuals gave any new serman to Nitish. Nitish knows it very well that this is purely a tamasha and spent hard earned tax payers money in a feudal way . They didn't want to accept harsh realties of the state. Nitish spoke 40 minuts and Modi got only five minuts. State is in celeberation mode so don,t discuss poverty, corruption etc. discuss only growth rate and Nitish charishma

Before discussing ‘attack from an unexpected quarters’ on Bihar government, as reported by Bihar Times, let me ask a few questions.
1. By what yardstick, the so-called ‘global summit on changing Bihar’
should be considered as global.
2. How money was spent on this event? From where it came?
3. Why thousands of Patnites were forced to commute on foot on
important roads and many top schools were closed as their vehicles
were not allowed to ply?
4. If this can happen when a PM from a country like Nepal, how would
Mr. Chief Minister travel if President Barak Obama comes in ?
5. Is Bihar a state of Indian Republic or is it ‘Republic of Bihar’
who can get into deals with sovereign countries?
6. Is it a managed-rehearsal of ‘PM in waiting’?
Now the question whether the criticism of the state government in
presence of world luminaries should be taken as embarrassment or not.
It depends, as said in Hindi, on the thickness of skin.
Prof Nawal Kishore Chaudhary could be accused of having bias against
the Nitish Kumar led BJP inclusive NDA government but his questions
should be answered. Social activist Arvind Sinha’s question about
Kanti and Barauni Thermal Power Station is a common man’s issue.
A few more things.
1. At a time when the ‘Global Summit on Changing Bihar’ was discussing
in cozy halls of a hotel, thousands of would be teachers were
ransacking examination centres as they believed the questio papers
were sold with answersheets. Was not that an embarrassment?
2. Bihar farmers are forced to stress sell their crops at throwaway
price. Paddy was sold cheaper than husk. Is that not an embarrassment?
3. Lakhs of faked admissions were reported just a few weeks back.
Should not that be an embarrassment?
4. Since the news of murders, rapes and loots are demanded to be
dumped at inner pages, editors feel gagged. Is anybody feel
embarrassed?
Well, it all depends on the thickness of the skin .

The Global Summit on Changing Bihar has come to an end, as indeed all good things must come to. The distinguished guests have departed. Some of them rated the performance of the state to be outstanding, most others tried to sugar coat the bitter pill of their disappointment. Nitish Kumar, narcissist par excellence, adulation addict had a surfeit of his favourite diet of praise, most of it polite de rigour words of encouragement of a courteous guest. But the Public Relation Department of Bihar, the most efficient of the government departments, ensured that these seemed like guests were going overboard in their admiration of the newly risen star. The venue, where the hordes of concerned globalists who spend sleepless nights worrying about. the future of Bihar brainstormed, has gone back to being its old, dirty, cluttered, polluted disorderly self Even that small bit of clean “Fraser Road” proudly posted on the walls of the Facebook and which had sent many into raptures has instantly morphed into its old familiar stinking garbage ridden palce. So many Biharis must now wake up from Mungeri Lal’s haseen sapne to confront some hard questions that demand to be answered.
Niteesh Kumar was at pains to explain that this summit was not for inviting investment. He however did not say what the purpose was. The budget for the meet was Rs. three crores. Add to this the cost of mobilization of a huge number of people for the bando bast, the man days lost, the cost of government assets etc. may run into several crores more. Only on the concluding day he let it be known that it was for creating the right “atmosphere”. In fact improving the atmospherics would have been closer to truth. Atmospherics has been defined as “The controllable characteristics of a retail space that entice a customer to enter the store, and which are designed to influence a customer's mood so as to increase the odds of a purchase being made. Atmospherics include the store's layout, noise level, temperature, lighting and decorations. They are designed to set the store apart from its competitors in a positive way. It is part of an overall companies branding and image.”But what was being sold was not Bihar nor its investment grade potential . What was being merchandised was Niteesh Kumar himself , the man with vision, the man with charisma, the man the nations should look forward to in these uncertain political times to- should the need arise – lead the country. He already consorts with heads of national government s –PM of Mauritius, King of Bhutan, and PM of Nepal.
A perceptive observer may have noticed that Bihar figured only incidentally and with its highly abbreviated history as if Bihar was created in the year 1990.Laloo jee's rule may have been a great misfortune for all of us poor be-knighted Biharis but Niteesh jee cannot - should not complain. He owes both his position as well as reputation to Laloo. Any assessment of Nitish’s government inevitably compares his achievement with Lalu Prasad. Lalu’s regime (the dummy wife included) was singularly marked by the absence of any developmental activity. If we were to award marks for their achievements on a scale of 1 to 10 Lalu would definitely get zero but Nitish’s score would not be more than 1. As a fraction of one, zero would yield the value infinity. But as two stand alone integers one is only zero plus one. So a fair assessment demands that his achievements should be compared with that of Delhi , or Gujarat , Maharashtra , Andhra Pradesh , even Madhya Pradesh .This is what Nitish is extremely clever at . He deliberately moulds the discourse to this terrain to extract the maximum – and unfair- advantage. It was no different this time.

One should not take it as embarrassment because its just beginning.the suo motto of such global meet by nitish government is to make the people of India and outer world to feel the change happening in bihar.we all know that bihar has miles to go.this meet will create positive environment for the investment in future.nitishji should consider the suggestions and advice given by the entrepreneurs seriously and should prepare the roadmap to achieve it.then and then only the aim of this meet would fulfill.one thing which I would like to advise nitishji that he should concentrate more on to power addition.although many power projects are sanctioned by state government, many projects are in limbo due to non availability of coal linkage and land acquisition. The government should sort out this problem quickly.it should buy power from power surplus state's till bihar augment its own power capacity.hydel power oppurtunities in Nepal can change the power scenario in bihar.bihar should become stake holder in such hydel projects in Nepal.similarly bihar can take help from Bhutan to change its power scenario.

to put a state/region on the path of development, rather critisize we
must apperciate Mr. Nitish Kumar and his team for taking such a noble

It may look embarrassing first, though we must be prepare for criticism especially when we are lacking on many fronts.. As govt. already made clear that this event is a brain storming session for preparing better future plans. It needs courage to invite people from all over the world, knowing that some may choose to criticize you. I hope govt. will take such criticism in positive way and keep the doors open for all such people.
Such criticism is welcome especially when govt. is surrounded with many pet poodles.
