Patna,(BiharTimes): Sometimes back the Nitish Kumar government raised the salary of Chief Minister, Ministers and Legislators. It became no big news. The chief minister now draws the salary of Rs 99,500, ministers a thousand less and MLAs and MLCs just Rs 10,000 less than them. |
The media and the public opinion-makers in the state did not raise any hue and cry though when Parliament was debating the hike of salary of MPs a couple of years back there was storm all over the country.
Anyway Legislators of Bihar are richer than the MPs. Now it is the turn of the Chairpersons and Members of Bihar Women’s Commission to get New Year’s gift. Their salaries are to be hiked by about 400 per cent.
The Nitish cabinet on January 3 decided to increase the salary of the Chairperson from Rs 21,000 to Rs 79,000. Similarly the salaries of the Members of the Commission would jump to about three times the present amount. They would now get Rs 47,400 instead of Rs 15,000 every month.
