No tie-up with RJD in Manipur, BJP in UP: Nitish

Patna,(BiharTimes): Janata Dal (United) will have no tie up with the arch-rival RJD in Manipur and NDA partner BJP in Uttar Pradesh in the coming Assembly elections.

This was stated by chief minister Nitish Kumar while leaving for Sewa Yatra to Purnea on Thursday.

The chief minister said that the news that the JD(U) would contest the Manipur elections in alliance with the RJD is not correct.
He said he read about the news in a few newspapers so he thought he must clear the stand that if the RJD is in the alliance, the JD(U) would never be a part of it.
He said there should be no confusion on the issue. The JD(U) and the RJD would never contest any kind of election in alliance. Contesting elections with the RJD is not in the interest of the party. There is no question of having an alliance with RJD at any cost.
He said that he talked to the party president, Sharad Yadav, on this issue and there is consensus that the JD(U) would not go for an alliance anywhere in the country where the RJD is present.
Media reports from Imphal had said that the Manipur unit of RJD had joined the five-party People’s Democratic Front (PDF), which includes the JD(U).
Interestingly, while RJD secretary general Ram Kripal Yadav denied his party had joined any alliance in Manipur, the state’s party president in-charge, K Kumarjit, said the party has joined the PDF and are very much a part of the Opposition alliance.
RJD has three MLAs in Manipur. They have dissociated themselves from Congress-led Secular Progressive Front. The development has come as an embarrassment for both Nitish and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad.
Regarding UP election Nitish said “it is not necessary that we have alliance with BJP everywhere and in each election. Our party will contest the elections alone,” he reiterated.

Nitish was critical of BJP’s decision to induct Mayawati rejects, especially Babu Singh Kushwaha. This is not a good decision and goes against healthy political principles, he added.
