Patna, Jan 23 (IANS) Bihar's first all-women police station was opened in Nalanda district Monday. The station will deal exclusively with crimes against women, officials said.

The police station was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at Biharsharif in Nalanda, his home district, some 100 km from here.
Nalanda Superintendent of Police Jitendra Singh Rana said all the 10 officials at the station, including eight constables, are women.
"Sub-Inspector Anju Kumari has been made the SHO (station house officer)," he said.
All SHOs of the district have been asked to transfer cases related to atrocities on women to this station.
The state government had announced last year that it will set up 40 all-women police stations.
"The government has sanctioned one all-women police station in each police district," an official said.
It had also approved the creation of 643 posts, including 21 inspectors, 121 sub-inspectors, 101 assistant sub-inspectors, 80 havaldars and 324 constables for the stations, apart from sanctioning a sum of Rs.25.44 crore.
