Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar BJP president, Dr C P Thakur, on Saturday proposed the name of Bikram in Patna district for the establishment of a new airport.
Bikram would be much closer to Patna in comparison to Nalanda and unlike Bihta there would be no problem of land. Besides, it is properly connected to the state capital too. |
Earlier, the deputy chief minister, Sushil Kumar Modi, had said that Sonepur can be a suitable place for the airport for Patna as it is just across river Ganga and the upcoming rail-cum-road bridge would solve the problem of communication with Patna.
However, political observers are of the view that the state government may not accept Sonepur as it falls in Saran, the parliamentary constituency of RJD chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav.
As reported earlier the proposal to shift airport to Nalanda is being strongly opposed by a large number of air travellers because it is too far away from Patna.
