JD(U) leaders accused of torturing boy, throwing acid into woman’s eyes

Patna,(BiharTimes): Two leaders of the ruling Janata Dal (United) in Bihar have been accused of indulging in barbaric act and torturing a woman and a young boy.

In the first case a party leader has been accused of driving nails into the feet of 13-year old boy, Rahul Yadav, for allegedly stealing a fan from his shop. The incident triggered widespread outrage across the state.

According to delayed reports the incident occurred at Simari-Bakhtiyarpur block in Saharsa district of North Bihar on Wednesday evening.

After the incident irate people and family members took to the streets demanding action against the accused leader.

Several local opposition activists also took part in protest against what they termed as barbaric act of the Janata Dal (United) block president, Chandramani Prasad Singh. He is also the son of  former MLA.


Saharsa SP, Ajit Kumar Satyarthi, told the media on Thursday that a case has been registered against the accused and investigation has started.

Though the print media all over the state virtually blacked out the news the regional TV channels have covered it. As a part of damage limitation exercise the JD(U) sought to initiate disciplinary action against the accused.

Its spokesman Niraj Kumar told media that the whole matter has come to the notice and the party  would surely initiate serious action against the accused if he is found guilty.

A day before this incident, yet another JD(U) leader Shiromani Singh was accused of pouring acid in both the eyes of a woman Manju Devi in Samastipur district over a piece of land. The assailants were forcing the victim and her family to sell the land which they were not agreeing to.

Singh is the local Rosera block chief of the JD(U).


Manju, who lost both the eyes alleged that the goons forced their entry into her house and poured acid into both her eyes. Dispute over a plot of land is said to be the cause behind the incident.
