Patna,(BiharTimes): Two Maha-Dalit school-children of Class VI, both brothers, of a government school in Vaishali district of Bihar were allegedly thrashed by their headmaster till they fainted for refusing to eat a mid-day meal in which they found insects.
Sons of a daily wage labourer the brothers––Sanjay Kumar, 12, and Chandeshwar Kumar, 13––refused to eat Kichchdi, the rice-lentil dish, which was served in their school at Mithani Milki village of the district on Saturday. |
According to reports when the brothers told headmaster Surendra Prasad Singh about the insects in their food, he reportedly told them to pick the bugs out and get on with eating the meal.
Reports also said that when the boys refused, the headmaster allegedly caned them mercilessly. The villagers later found the brothers whimpering outside the school after they had regained their consciousness.
Their father, Rameshwar Das, first rushed them to a primary health centre for treatment. Later, he lodged a complaint with the police against the headmaster. There are ssome stick marks were seen on the bodies of the children.
The headmaster, however, denied beating the children and alleged that he had been falsely implicated.
