Patna, July 26 (IANS) Abductors of a college student who disappeared a month ago have demanded Rs.50 lakh for his release, police said Wednesday.
Varun Kumar alias Bantu, 20, was kidnapped June 18 from near his rented house here. Both his parents are government officials.

"Abductors have called the family twice demanding Rs.50 lakh for his safe release," a police official said. The gang used Varun's mobile telephone to make the calls.
The abductors have threatened to kill Varun if the ransom was not paid soon, police said.
