Bihar ministers, BJP chief attend Ranvir Sena chief’s shradh

Patna,(BiharTimes): Animal husbandry and fisheries resources minister of Bihar, Giriraj Singh,PHED minister Chandra Mohan Rai,state BJP chief Dr C P Thakur, Ara MP Meena Singh, Aurangabad MP Sushil Singh, Lalganj MLA, Anu Shukla, Bikram MLA, Anil Sharma, Hisua MLA, Anil Kumar, Karakat MLA, Rajeshwar Raj, Danapur MLA, Asha Devi, Kanti MLA, Ajit Kumar and several other legislators, especially those of ruling NDA, took part in the shradh ceremony of Ranvir Sena chief, Brahmeshwar Singh, at his ancestral Khopira village in Bhojpur district on Wednesday. About one lakh people reportedly took part in it.

Though a case has been lodged against Giriraj Singh for calling Mukhiaji a Gandhian, he once again called the Ranvir Sena chief a Gandhian and a saint and said it is people like RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who painted his image as a criminal or perpetrator of crimes.

Speaking on the occasion Dr C P Thakur said that Mukhiyaji was a social worker who organized farmers. After the brahmbhoj and sejjadaan, a meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtrawadi Kisan Sangathan, an open organization floated by Mukhiyaji, was also held. The younger son of Brahmeshwar Singh was unanimously elected the national president of the organization.

Meanwhile, police arrested three armed persons while they were going to Khopira village in Bhojpur district to attend the ceremony. Three licensed revolvers and 68 live cartridges were recovered from them during frisking. They were arrested near Sahar while going to Khopira from Jehanabad via Arwal.
A couple of days earlier the district administration had imposed a ban on carrying firearms as a precautionary measure in the wake of the shradh.

The policemen deployed at sensitive areas were instructed to take action against those found to be moving suspiciously.

Around 3,000 policemen from Bhojpur and its adjoining districts were deployed at Khopira and its adjoining villages, considered vulnerable from the security point of view after Singh’s murder.

The district administration had made tight security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident. A large number of police personnel along with magistrates were deployed at every 100 metres and CCTVs were also displayed to keep round-the-clock vigil on the situation. The district administration had also announced closure of all the 169 liquor shops in Bhojpur district on June 13.

Food was prepared on coal chulha following a big fire caused by gas cylinders a day earlier. The presence of such a large number of NDA leaders suggest that there is now a rush among them to openly associate themselves with Ranvir Sena, the outfit accused of killing hundreds of Dalits in Bihar in 1990s. In the past these leaders would shy away from associating themselves with the organization. This is a significant shift in their stand after the killing of its chief on June 1 last.
