JD (U) hits out at BJP, says Bihar alliance due to magnanimity of Nitish

Patna,(BiharTimes): A day after Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said that the UP result is a lesson for all the parties, Congress and others the Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday launched a massive attack on the alliance partner the BJP.

The Janata Dal (United), which drew blank notwithstanding the fact that it contested 200 seats, made it clear that a rift has appeared between the two parties.

Party’s national general secretary, K C Tyagi, who is also a close aide of Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav, accused the BJP of being selective on alliances during the Assembly election. Rift has already appeared. In UP, the BJP lost both the election and its alliance with JD(U), he said loud and clear adding that in Bihar the alliance is running successfully only because of the magnanimity of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He further added that though trends were basically against Congress, yet BJP too does not have reasons to be happy. Its share of votes in the state has gone down and it must rethink over its strategy to contest alone.

Tyagi said his party would raise the issue with BJP during the next meeting of NDA allies to be held after Holi.

It needs to be recalled that throughout the campaign Sharad Yadav strongly criticized the BJP causing annoyance to the BJP leadership as he is also the NDA convenor. Meanwhile, while talking to reporters in Patna on Wednesday another general secretary Shivanand Tiwary, said that the result of UP Assembly elections was a warning to both the so-called national parties like Congress and BJP and it reflected the popular support for the regional parties in states.

Tiwary said both Congress and BJP should take a lesson from the result of Uttar Pradesh assembly election.

He accused both BJP and Congress of behaving with arrogance and said that the two should know that no single party government controls Centre as well as the states.

Now people’s aspirations and problems have changed. The regional parties have gained strength because of becoming favourite with people in the states.

Speaking on the line of Tyagi he said Congress and BJP should respect the alliances they forged in.
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi factors have failed, he added.
