Patna,(BiharTimes): Rashtriya Janata Dal MLAs on Wednesday staged a walk out in protest against the total collapse of civic amenities in the urban areas of Bihar.
The RJD legislators stood up from their seats and started raising slogans when the Urban Develoment minister Prem Kumar was replying to a debate on his department’s budget. They also shouted slogans highlighting other irregularities in the department before walking out from the Assembly. |
But the minister went on to complete his speech. He said that a project has been prepared for treatment of sewarage water before it flows into the river. They would be introduced in Begusarai, Munger, Hajipur and Buxar, all four towns located on either bank of river Ganga. An amount of Rs. 4.41 crores has been released for the purpose.
Though chief minister Nitish Kumar would repeatedly oppose the centrally-sponsored scheme his minister Prem Kumar talked about Centre’s discrimination against Bihar in the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
He regretted that only two urban centres––Patna and Bodh Gaya––have been selected for development of urban infrastructure in the first phase of JNNURM. He demanded that all the 139 towns and cities from the state should be included in the second phase under the central scheme for laying urban infrastructure.
