Patna,(BiharTimes): It was an embarrassing moment for Nitish Kumar on the eve of Bihar Diwas when the Income Tax department on Tuesday, among other places, raided the premises of JD (U) treasurer and former MLC Vinay Kumar Sinha and seized 4.5 crores kept in sacks and papers of 50 flats located in different areas of Patna. |
Sinha's proximity to Nitish Kumar was well known as the chief minister lived in Sinha's residence before becoming chief minister in November 2005.
The IT raid has caught the Janata Dal (United) on wrong foot and that too on the day when the Nitish government was busy in centenary celebration. No leader is prepared to speak on the issue, especially because Sinha is too close to Nitish himself.
Meanwhile, the leader of opposition in the state Assembly, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, questioned whether it is Sinha’s money or Janata Dal (United)’s money. He sought high-level probe into the matter.
Rebel party leader Upendra Prasad Kushwaha questioned as to how Sinha had so much cash when Nitish Kumar had asked leaders even of the block level to disclose their assets.
On the other hand the RJD general secretary, Ram Kripal Yadav, and the state party chief, Ram Chandra Purbey, demanded an independent inquiry into the close relationship between Sinha and Nitish Kumar.
In a Press statement they said that Sinha’s Boring Road house, Sita Sadan, worked as the election head office of Janata Dal (United) in 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2004 parliamentary election. Nitish Kumar took the oath as the chief minister of Bihar on November 24, 2005 when he was living in that very house of Sinha, which was raided on Tuesday.

Exposing the first skeleton in Nitish's closet : A divine intervention
Everyday you read or hear so many stories and news about people whose desire for earning more and more wealth leads them to do unethical, cruel and even criminal things. The very thought to be a in a government official position, or holding power of some sort is a proof of greed or corruption of the kind that will lead one to a total annihilation of his moral self. No one with a sound moral character will chose to be a part of this tactical democracy meant to plunder public money and accumulate illegal wealth and properties snatching others basic necessities of life.Today Bihar government can simply be defined as "PUBLIC OFFICE FOR PRIVATE GAIN". What this government ecourages is corrupt behavior which includes, bribery, fraud, stealing the public resources, partiality/favouritism, seizure of public assets for private use, or even to the adulteration of baby food. And as the captain Nitish Kumar is sailing this ship of corruption with masterful dexterity.By his well calculated moves in collaboration with the highly educated advices from a band of the most corrupt cartel of IAS officers and a completely bought out media there was no loop hole left. There were only two options left to expose the treachery of this regime. One was a total public revolt and the other was the much awaited divine intervention. I think the poor people of Bihar could not muster up enough courage to hit the streets so the almighty God had to intervene.I hope this exposition is the beginning of a crumbling end to this anti-poor government.
