Katju questions Bihar development

Patna,(BiharTimes): Holding the scientific media management responsible for the “Shining Bihar” campaign Press Council of India Chairman, Justice (Retired) Markandey Katju, on Friday asked where is Bihar developing.

The scientific media management by the government of Nitish Kumar gives the impression that Bihar is shining. “But where is Bihar shining', where is Bihar, let me see what industries have been built, what progress made, I said I travelled in Bihar. I said it's full of poverty, full of filth, rubbish, stacks of rubbish everywhere, I said where is this Bihar shining, is it only in newspapers, or is it seen to be seen with my eyes?” he was quoted by ANI as saying in New Delhi.
He said a fact-finding committee has been constituted to investigate reports that journalists are being forced to present a positive picture of the state at the risk of losing their jobs. This was a violation of Press freedom, as journalists could rightfully state facts without being influenced by the government or any other authority.
“I have set up a three-member fact finding team, which is investigating these reports because this is a very serious thing. If the government gives a threat to media people that if they write against the government, they will lose their jobs, they will get transferred or suffer. This is violation of the freedom of the press, which is a guaranteed right under Article 19(a) of the Constitution,” he said.
Justice Katju also highlighted the difference between control and regulation, and hinted that mediapersons should responsibly exercise their rights.
“Media requires regulation. You see there is a difference between control and regulation. In control, there is no freedom, in regulation, there is freedom, but it is subject to reasonable restrictions in the public interest,” he said.

Nitishocracy : Rule number One

If you can not buy out a media outlet, threaten it into submission. This is the general order (as per Rule Number One) given by the barbaric regime of Nitish Kumar to every Police Station covering  the media office in that area. Today by the grace of Almighty Nitish you will hardly find a journalist willing to speak even a word against the autocrat. Leave alone the development or even an iota of good governance , the situation in Bihar has come to such a pass that no citizen with a complain on his tongue is safe.Any one daring to speak the truth should be ready to be implicated in one or the other false case under certain unqualified Act of IPC conveniently misused to serve the regime and strengthen the criminal policing of Bihar. The nexus among the CM brigade , the police and the yes-bureaucrats has created an impregnable citadel of unprecedented cruelty rendering the common masses completely helpless and subjugated. The only way to freedom from this horribly suppression is the direct intervention of the military in order to outgun the barbaric police force and then re civilize the system of governance hanging every cruel cartel member on the street junction to set and example for the next generation because the existing generation has already lost the case. I wish justice Katju all the best in his effort but he has to be careful at the same time for his life is in danger while roaming in the Nitish led wild forest called Bihar.
