Patna,(BiharTimes): The murder of Saket Gupta, cousin of one of the top-most IPS officers of the state, A K Gupta, has taken a new turn with the recovery of the body of Prem Kumar Singh. A K Gupta is a DG rank officer in Bihar Police. |
The body of Prem, one of the accused, was recovered from near the railway track in Kumhrar just after midnight on Thursday. It was in Kumhrar Park that Saket was killed on May 7 while he was taking a morning walk.
Incidentally, the police claimed to have nabbed two of the killers of Saket after a hot chase on that very day itself. Even the chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday praised police for “prompt action”.
Prem Kumar Singh, like Saket, was also a liquor trader. His body was recovered by the police around 12.30am on Thursday. While the cause of death is yet to be ascertained, police are keeping mum over what led to the sudden death under mysterious circumstances.
His death has raised several serious questions. Though Prem was an accused why the police could not arrest him? Not only that the body was recovered from near the track had, according to police, no bullet mark.In the FIR lodged with the Agamkuan police station Saket’s mother had accused Prem of threatening her son over some business matter. Apart from Prem she named Pramod Kumar, Bobo, Mukesh, Pankaj, Kuku, Raju and Pintoo. Raju and Pintoo were arrested the same day. What is more curious is that between May 7 and 9, when the body was found, the police neither detained Prem as is the norm nor knocked on his door for inquiry. Prem was present at his Sadiqpur residence until Wednesday evening.
The irony is that all the top police officers are keeping their lips tight over the issue though some of them have, of the record, conceded that Saket murder case and subsequent death of Prem Singh is a very serious development.
They did not rule out the possibility of one man behind the two murders. They feel that may be there is a third player who did not want the cops to question Prem in Saket’s murder case. This seems to be very complicated case.
It needs to be recalled that Prem left home at 7:10 pm on Wednesday. Around 12:30 am on Thursday, his body was recovered near the railway tracks in the Kumhrar area.
The family members of Prem alleged police inaction behind his “murder”. He was into the liquor business for more than 10 years and had over 10 beer bars in Patna City.
