Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday approved creation of an additional 123 posts of teachers in the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). This will pave the way for increase in the number of seats for the MBBS students from 100 to 150. |
According to the Principal Secretary, Cabinet Coordination, Ravikant as per the Medical Council of India (MCI) guidelines, a medical college can increase the number of seats of students only after fulfilling the stipulated number of teaching posts.
Thus, the state government has cleared the decks for increasing the number of seats from 100 to 150.Besides, the state government has approved 700 posts of teaching and non-teaching staff in the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS).
This will put a burden of Rs 26.06 crores on the state exchequer. IGIMS has already started MBBS course, with 100 seats, from the last academic session. The cabinet also sanctioned creation of 3,486 posts for computerisation and updation of land records over the next three years under the Bihar Special Survey and Settlement Act, 2011.
The updation and computerization of the land records has to be done in the next three years at all cost and for that the aerial suvey has been completed. It also approved Rs 578.56 crore funds for this purpose. The Centre and state would spend Rs 394.21 crore and Rs 184.35 crore respectively.
