Patna,(BiharTimes): The citizens of Gaya have welcomed the categorical statement made by Union minister of state for Human Resources Development, E Ahmad, that the Central University of Bihar (CUB) will be established at Gaya, not Motihari, as the expert committee has rejected the latter.
The minister made the government stand known in the Rajya Sabha on Friday in response to BJP MP Tarun Vijay's question. |
CUB Struggle Committee convener Sanjay Sahay said he had always been optimistic about the establishment of Central University of Bihar at Gaya.
The Struggle Committee had been agitating for establishing the CUB in Gaya for the last few months.
He said that he did not see any reason to re-launch the agitation as things were moving in the right direction and any attempt to hasten things up at this stage may prove counter-productive.
Not only Sahay, but even common citizens and academics greeted the statement of the minister.
Meanwhile, a CUB team recently visited Gaya to interact with local mediapersons, students and teachers to make them aware of the educational programmes conducted by CUB. The University is temporarily located at BIT, Patna campus. It also decided to conduct both online and offline admission test for CUB at Gaya.
Sources told BiharTimes that it is now clear that the CUB would be established in Gaya and not in Motihari.
Incidentally, ever since his one-to-one luncheon meet with Sibal, chief minister Nitish Kumar has not spoken much on the issue.
