Why road construction contract given at higher rate to AP firm, asks Lalu

Patna,(BiharTimes): Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav on Sunday asked the state government as to what had prompted it to cancel the contract of central agencies engaged in the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and hand over to an Andhra Pradesh firm on much higher rate when that company does not have requisite facilities.

Talking to newsmen on the eve of national executive of the RJD on Sunday evening Lalu said that while the central agencies were constructing the roads at the rate of Rs 30 lakh per kilometre this Andhra Pradesh firm has been allotted the contract by the state government at the rate of Rs 45 lakh per kilometre.

Lalu said that the tree plantation contract on the roadside has also been given to an Andhra Pradesh NGO, which has never planted a single tree.Similarly, there is loot of MNREGA fund in the state. The RJD chief said that Nitish Kumar is not going to take any action against any mukhiyapati or sarpanch pati.

Lalu also alleged that Rs 600 crore has not been paid for the paddy procured from farmers through PACS.He said when Bihar has the storage capacity of 13 lakh metric tonnes how is it that the state government claiming that it has procured 22 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Where has it stored them.

In the same way the milling capacity of rice is just 10 lakh tonnes. In such a situation where is the milling of rest of the rice being done, he asked.He urged the Nitish government to come out with the list of at least 1,000 farmers who got diesel subsidy.
