Girl dies as molester jumps off the train with her
Patna,(BiharTimes): In a bizarre incident a young man allegedly jumped off out of a train with a teenaged girl between Sarairanjan and Nazirganj railway stations (Samastipur district) under Sonepur division of East Central Railway late on Sunday night. Both sustained injuries. However, the girl died in Samastipur Sadar Hospital at about 6:30 AM on Monday.
The accused, identified as Santosh Giri, has been put under arrest. An FIR has been lodged with the Samastipur Government Railway Police station.
Reports said Nitu Kumari, a resident of Biroul in Darbhanga, had boarded the Katihar-Darbhanga passenger from Barauni Junction with her family. They had gone to Simaria Ghat in Begusarai on Sunday for a holy dip in the Ganga.
One of the passengers, Mohammad Alauddin, was quoted by the media as saying that at around 11:30 on Sunday night he saw a man in his 30s sitting beside Nitu and molesting her. He added that she, along with her family, was asleep then. At this point Alauddin shouted at him.
Giri got panicked and overpowered the girl and jumped off the speeding train before Nazirganj railway station, about 15 km east of Samastipur Junction.
The girl’s father Tapeshwar Verma raised an alarm upon which the train stopped. The relatives accompanying Nitu got off at Nazirganj railway station and took both to the sadar hospital.
Prima facie, it seems that he is mentally challenged. He is a resident of Pethia Gachhi village under the jurisdiction of Town police station of Samastipur district, said Dhananjay Singh, the station house officer, Government Railway Police station, Samastipur Junction.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Varun Kumar Sinha the man is said to be of dubious background and was not known to the victim.
