New Delhi, Nov 15 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday urged the union railway minister to run more special trains to ferry people to the Poorvanchal region - Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh for the celebration of Chhat Puja, which begins Nov 19, an official said.
"She (Diksit) has spoken to the railway minister (Pawan Bansal) exhorting him to deploy more and special trains to clear rush of waiting Poorvanchalis at various railway stations of Delhi," said Mukesh Sharma, parliamentary secretary to the Delhi chief minister.
Dedicated to the Sun god, Chhath Puja is likely to be celebrated in the capital Nov 19 or 20.
"The Poorvanchalis have been stuck as they are not able to board any train bound to their respective hometowns," he added.
Poorvanchalis is the term used for people from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar living in Delhi.
