Patna, Oct 20 (IANS) A rape victim Saturday threatened self-immolation in the Bihar capital, alleging police have failed to initiate any action against the accused - a doctor - till date. Police, however, said a probe was underway in the case.

Terming herself fed up with police inaction, the 18-year-old victim, who accused a renowned surgeon of repeated rape and illegal confinement for at least 13 days last month, said that she will end her life if he was not arrested.
"I am shocked that the accused is still at large. Police have yet to arrest him... if I fail to get justice in next few days, I will self-immolate myself," the girl told a section of media here.
The accused is a Patna-based surgeon.
"The accused is a powerful man, who is trying to suppress the case. But I will not sit silent," she said.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Amrit Raj however said that the superintendent of police (city) has been investigating the case. "Police are probing it," he said.
