Patna,(BiharTimes): The 98th birth anniversary of former Bihar chief minister Bhola Paswan Shashtri saw speakers, including a retired IAS officer and a ruling Janata Dal (United) MLA blasting the Nitish Kumar government and accusing it of complete failure on all the fronts.
Addressing the function the former senior bureaucrat, Pancham Lal, questioned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s tall claims of development in the state, stating that there is rampant corruption and loot all over in the state.

He said the present bureaucracy in Bihar is the most corrupt one in the history of the state. How come the chief minister make tall claims about a government run by these corrupt bureaucrats?
Lal, a former principal secretary (parliamentary affairs), criticised industrialists and bankers for praising the state government over development in Bihar.
He also accused the chief minister of “illegally dividing” the Dalit community by carving out Mahadalit people from them for “electoral benefits.”
Pancham Lal alleged that Dalits have been the worst victim of the might of the state during the NDA rule and the people from downtrodden sections have been killed by the police in fake encounters or by painting them as the Maoists.
According to him police stations have been turned into torture centres to commit atrocities against poor.
Speaking in the same vein former Minister and senior JD(U) MLA Chhedi Paswan alleged that corruption had been institutionalized in Bihar during the Nitish government, which is neck deep in corruption.
Citing an example he said preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of one kilometres road costs Rs 50 lakhs.
Listing out a number of multi-crore scams in repair and maintenance of the zamindari dams, welfare schemes for APL/BPL families, implementation of Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) etc he said deserving people have been deprived of assistance for construction of pucca houses and the benefits have gone to those influential people owing 'pucca' houses.
Ridiculing the state government claim of spending crores of rupees for alleviation of poverty in Bihar, he asked then why did 52 lakh people migrate outside for livelihood in the last few years.
The MLA from Mohania said that most of poor people have slumped to acute poverty during the Nitish rule.
The birth anniversary function, attended by former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma and the Chairman of the National Commission for Schedule Castes, P L Punia, ended up becoming a Nitish-bashing platform with Dalit leaders, mostly Paswans (Dussadhs), accusing the chief minister of dividing the Dalits.
