Patna,(BiharTimes): If a report appearing in a British newspaper is to be believed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar could provide his helping hand to revive the dead institution of monarchy in Nepal. It was on May 28, 2008 that Nepal ceased to remain the lone Hindu kingdom of the world and became a secular democratic republic. |
“Insiders say that sidelined King Gyanendra is helping friends in India––he is believed to be mediating to woo Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar to the UPA fold. He is a regular visitor to Bihar and sources say a former bureaucrat close to Nitish is also working on the same mission with the former Nepali sovereign”, wrote Raisina Tattle for the online edition of Daily Mail, United Kingdom on February 8.
Report suggests that Gyanendra, the last king, and his wife Komal are packing their bags for a month long trip to the district of Bara, a district adjoining Bihar. In effect they are already in Simra, which is just two hours’ drive from Raxaul in Bihar.
According to the report “Nepal's former ruler Gyanendra seems to be on the comeback trail…With Maoists failing to make their mark in Nepal, his popularity is rising.”
The Nepalese Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, who had spent time in Bihar, considers himself very close to Nitish Kumar.
