Two-thirds of gram panchayats in Bihar have no secondary school: Minister
Patna,(BiharTimes): Education minister Prashant Kumar Shahi said that about two-thirds of gram panchayats in Bihar did not have any secondary school.
Replying to a starred question of the BJP MLA Ramnaresh Prasad Yadav in the state Assembly on Tuesday he said out of 8,463 gram panchayats, 5,500 did not have secondary school.
The minister said that the state government has proposed to set up 1,000 secondry schools from 2013-14 onwards to meet the target of one secondary schools in each gram panchayat of the state. It has also undertaken work for upgradation of middle schools into secondary ones to ensure that the students did not have to walk over a distance for studies.
