Patna,(BiharTimes): A woman was allegedly gang-raped, murdered and her body hung from a tree in an orchard in Bhagalpur district by unidentified persons after she reportedly got down from a Delhi-bound train.
Reports from the district quoting police said the victim, who was a passenger of the Brahmaputra Mail, was travelling to New Delhi. |
How and what actually happened is not fully clear, yet reports said that she was dragged to the mango orchard and gang-raped by the unidentified accused after alighted from the train between Vikramshila and Kahalgaon stations, only a few kilometers east of Bhagalpur. However, Brahmaputra Mail does not stop in these stations.
She was later murdered and her body hung from a tree late on Saturday night. The police recovered the body on Sunday and sent it for post-mortem.
Police also said a railway ticket and mobile phone number of her village pradhan written on a piece of paper was recovered from the victim's possession. Investigation is on in the case.
