Patna,(BiharTimes): The BJP’s state council meeting in Patna on Friday made it clear that notwithstanding deputy chief minister, Sushil Kumar Modi’s victory––he got Mangal Pandey nominated as the state party chief––it is Narendra Modi, who appears to be more popular in rank and file of the party.

What came as a big surprise is that it was not just the dissident leaders like Giriraj Singh and the outgoing state party chief Dr C P Thakur, who did not miss the opportunity to praise the Gujarat chief minister, but leaders like seasoned politician and arguably the oldest partyman in Bihar, Tarakant Jha, who publicly praised him. Jha’s remarks came as a bolt from blue for Sushil Modi as he is considered too close to the chief minister, Nitish Kumar. But Jha has a history of sore relationship with Sushil Modi too.
All this happened not only in the presence of Bihar deputy chief minister, but also central leaders like Ravi Shankar Prasad, Shahnawaz Husain, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Shatrughan Sinha and others.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Thakur said a ‘feast’ is due to Narendra Modi in Bihar. By stating so he referred to the cancellation of dinner by chief minister Nitish Kumar on June 12, 2010. The Bihar chief minister invited all the BJP bigwigs to dinner as they were in Patna on the occasion of national executive but cancelled it at the eleventh hour. Dr Thakur said some people have problems with Narendra Modi. By stating so he not only hit out at Nitish Kumar, but also his deputy.
Not only the leaders, even the workers, repeatedly raised slogans in favour of Narendra Modi, especially whenever his name was referred by any of the leaders.
