Patna,(BiharTimes): Election for the by-election for the lone Rajya Sabha seat would be held on Feb 14.
The seat fell vacant following the resignation of Janata Dal (United) MP, Upendra Kushwaha, who left the party after raising a banner of revolt against the chief minister Nitish Kumar. He has floated his own outfit. He gave up his Rajya Sabha seat on Jan 4.

According to Election Commission release the notification for the by-election will be issued on January 28 and the last date for filing nominations is February 4. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is February 7. Counting of votes will be taken up at 5 PM on February 14 itself.
Kushwaha’s term of office would be expiring on July 7, 2016.The Janata Dal (United)’s strength in the Upper House is now eight.
