Has the survey forgotten prime ministerial candidate Nitish Kumar?

Patna,(BiharTimes): The recent pre-poll survey showing the NDA, with Narendra Modi as prime ministerial candidate, much ahead of UPA is being taken with a pinch of salt by independent political analysts as at present the real NDA does not exist. Apart from the Janata Dal (United), Shiv Sena and Shrimoni Akali Dal no other party is with it.

Gone are the days of the National Democratic Alliance of two dozen parties. Mamata Banerjee, Chandrababu Naidu, Jayalalithaa, Naveen Patnaik and many other regional satraps are till date far away from the National Democratic Alliance.

That is one reason why many anti-Narendra Modi leaders within the BJP are in private interpreting the survey as a projection of the Gujarat chief minister and make others in the race irrelevant.

But one thing, which has not been noticed, is that the Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar––till recently one of the prime ministerial candidates––figure nowhere in the survey. If his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi, according to the survey, was the choice of 48 per cent people for the post of PM and Rahul Gandhi just 18 per cent what was the percentage Nitish Kumar got?

In fact the survey showed the percentage of votes other BJP and Congress leaders got. So it is now the acceptable fact that Nitish Kumar is out of the race for the post of prime ministerial candidate of the NDA. In fact neither he nor any Janata Dal (United) leader––even the loud-mouthed Shivanand Tiwari––has not spoken anything on the survey.

By strongly defending the BJP and RSS recently––following home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s remarks on Hindu Terrorism––the Bihar chief minister has almost conceded ground to the BJP. Now it seems that he would have no problem if the BJP projects Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate.
