Patna,(BiharTimes): Opposition members in the Bihar legislative Assembly on Tuesday criticized what they call “police terror” in Nawada and accused the district SP and the Rajauli SHO of throwing all norms and rules to the wind.
Leader of the opposition Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Congress legislature party leader Sadananad Singh, chief whip of RJD Samrat Chaudhury and the MLA of the same party Javed Iqbal Ansari had earlier moved a call attention notice, drawing the attention of the government towards the raid on the Times of India’s correspondent S B Sinha at Makanpur village in Nawada district on February 27 night. |
As reported the raid was carried out a day after the publication of a news about non-compliance of an order of the court of the chief judicial magistrate of Nawada. The CJM had asked the SP to execute a warrant of arrest against the officer-in-charge and ensure his presence in the court to explain the arrest of a lawyer who had gone to his police station to lodge an FIR. He was later handcuffed and paraded in the court with a rope around tied his waist.
Siddiqui, who read out the notice, said the government should take stern action against the two police officers for their utter disregard for the law.
Water resources minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhury told the members of the assembly the government would respond to the notice on Friday.
