Patna,(BiharTimes): The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the violent protests during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Adhikar Yatra' at Khagaria on September 27 has found the role of RJD leader Ram Kripal Yadav and Congress leader Pappu Yadav in the incident as ‘doubtful’.
The final report was submitted to the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Khagaria, Trilokinath Tripathi by SIT on Thursday. |
The police said that SIT has chargsheeted 37 persons, majority of them local leaders and workers of RJD, LJP, Congress, CPI-ML, NCP and over a dozen contractual teachers in the incident, the police said.
The report highlights the ‘doubtful’ role of RJD Rajya Sabha member Ram Kripal Yadav and controversial Congress leader Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav.
It needs to be recalled that violent protests had been staged in Khagaria on September 27 last year when Nitish was on his way to address a Adhikar Yatra to mobilize support for special category status for Bihar.
But he had to face protest in almost all the districts he visited. At some places the district administration even banned the entry of anyone wearing black shirt, pants, dupatta, burqa, or carrying umbrella or towel.
However, in Khagaria controversial Janata Dal (United) leader, Ranvir Yadav, snatched rifle from the bodyguard of his MLA wife and fired in the air when protestors threw eggs and chappals at the chief minister. The firing by Ranvir Yadav was caught in camera yet Nitish justified it. No probe was ordered into the firing incident, even though it was illegal.
Surprisingly, the SIT report came at a time when the state is once again in the grip of massive protest by contractual teachers. They are demanding pay parity, timely payment of salary and regularisation of job.
