Patna,(BiharTimes): The opposition parties staged a walkout from the Bihar Assembly for the third day in succession on Friday on the issue of brutal police lathicharge on agitating para-teachers on Tuesday.
Like on Thursday the opposition members raised the issue as the House met for the day to take up the Question Hour. |
RJD legislator Raghvendra Pratap Singh sought to know from the Speaker if it was ready to reconsider the notice of the opposition for an adjournment motion.
When there was no response from the Speaker, the RJD members along with the Congress, CPI and LJP MLAs trooped into the well of the House and started shouting slogans against the government demanding withdrawl of FIRs against them besides, seeking pay parity of contractual teachers with regular teachers and regularization of their job.
The situation turned ugly when members of treasury bench rose from their seats and started shouting against the opposition. They charged the latter with politicizing the issue.
Upon this Parliamentary Affairs minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav intervened to say that since the Supreme Court has taken suo motu notice of the incident and directed the state to reply to it on Monday next, adjournment cannot be taken up.
He said if the Speaker deems fit, the government was ready for a two hour special debate on the contractual teachers issue.
Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary also mooted this proposal of a two hour special debate which the RJD did not accept and walked out of the House.
The opposition disrupted the Bihar Legislative Council too on the same issue.
